Technology strategy & roadmap
A plan for where your technology should go and in what order: what to build, buy, retire or leave alone. Written by senior engineers who can be accountable for executing it, not by a strategy team that hands it off.
Typical duration: 2–4 weeks. Fixed scope, quoted up front.
What you get
- Current-state assessment of systems, data, team and spend
- Target architecture and the gaps between here and there
- A build, buy or partner recommendation for each gap, with the reasoning
- A sequenced 12-month roadmap with owners, dependencies and rough cost
A good fit when
- You are planning next year's technology budget and need a defensible basis for it
- Systems have grown by accident and nobody can say what to fix first
- The board or investors are asking what the technology plan is
How it runs
- 01
Scope
A short call to agree the questions the roadmap must answer, who needs to sign it and the deadline.
- 02
Assess
Interviews with your leads, agents digesting documentation and code, and a read of the data and the cloud bill.
- 03
Recommend
Target architecture, build, buy or partner calls and the sequenced roadmap, walked through with your team and revised once.
Questions about this service
How is this different from a big-firm strategy engagement?
Fewer people, more hands-on. The engineers who assess your systems write the roadmap, and the same team can build it. AI agents do the document and code reading that a large firm staffs with analysts.
Do we have to build with Octerion afterwards?
No. The roadmap is written to be executed by anyone, including your own team or another vendor. Clients often ask us to build the first phase because the context is already there.
What do you need from us?
Access to the people who own each system, read access to documentation and repositories where possible, and a decision-maker for the final review. Expect two to four hours of your team's time per week.
